Chilly Fall, Winter Warm

The hardest thing about October is how much I can’t wait for it to snow. I never stop looking forward to the next season, especially Winter. Our Tortuga is so warm and snug that the crisp air feels all that much fresher when we step out to the fire.

Remember that summer…?

Too busy living richly to worry if we’re making memories.

The smell of sand and sun. The sticky hands washed in cool water. The cousin you haven’t seen in years that you still love like a sister. Which one of you was the first to work up the courage to jump off first?

Don’t worry about making sure that your family and friends make great memories. Great memories happen when you make space for community and stop overthinking it.

Communities: Teenagers

Adults who play like children raise teens who are good adults.

I don’t mind admitting that I sometimes need distance from my teens. And vice versa. So, while we cook on shore the squad and the girls have a space to be themselves. Sometimes the way to have a tranquil vacation is to let someone else enjoy your Tortuga for a bit.

People will be curious

Enthusiasm is contagious.

People can’t help asking about my Tortuga. Whether we were at the camp ground, at the boat landing, at the gas station -even one time being flagged down by pedestrians on the way to the lake to ask me, “where can we buy one?”- it always draws attention. If you like telling lake neighbors on pontoons all about what a Tortuga is and what yours can do then you will not be disappointed.

You’ll find the most common reaction to the Tortuga is she turns to him and says, “Honey, I want one.”
